Testimonies from professionals involved in our community.

Hamza Bouarich is a Project Manager and Continuous Improvement Specialist. A volunteer with PMI-Montréal for the past three years, he actively contributes to the development of the Emerging Professionals Committee and to structuring initiatives that provide a clear and structured entry point into the project management ecosystem for students and early-career professionals. For him, volunteer involvement is a two-way strategic lever: it accelerates professional development while also giving back value to the community. What stood out to him when joining PMI-Montréal was the richness of the community and the diversity of profiles within it.
In his view, being part of PMI-Montréal goes beyond learning processes and tools—it is above all the largest French-speaking project management community, where exchanges and shared experiences help accelerate professional growth. Recognizing the importance of the connections fostered within a strong community, he has made it his mission to make this accessibility available to everyone.
For him, the PMI-Montréal vision comes to life very concretely within the Emerging Professionals Committee: a structured program, targeted workshops, and activities designed to meet the specific needs of emerging talent creating an environment where participants can truly grow and better position themselves.

By 2027, his ambition is for the Emerging Professionals Committee to become a must-go reference for anyone looking to start or advance a career in project management in Québec.
Jose Luis Duque leads a cross-functional project office at the intersection of business and technology. Holding PMP and PfMP certifications, he has built his career around strategic governance, portfolio management, and organizational leadership, driven by a strong belief: rigor should never be synonymous with bureaucracy. His focus is on creating real value, powered by multidisciplinary teams aligned around clear objectives.

His commitment to the project management community is reflected both in his day-to-day work and in his volunteer involvement with PMI-Montréal. In 2025, he had the opportunity to contribute to several initiatives: a design thinking session on customer personas, the annual programming committee, the jury for the Élixir Awards (Social Impact Project of the Year category), and the Montréal PMO roundtable. These experiences allowed him to fully live the PMI-Montréal mission: to equip, connect, and inspire.
From a professional standpoint, these activities provided him with a unique space to broaden his perspective. Engaging with individuals from diverse sectors enabled him to challenge his own practices, enrich his thinking, and strengthen his conviction that project management is a lever for transformation—not merely a control function. On a personal level, he found a community driven by kindness and a genuine desire to share. These often informal exchanges have fueled his energy and inspiration, reminding him that behind every methodology are people striving to create meaningful impact. The PMI-Montréal vision—placing project management at the heart of innovation and success—deeply resonates with his role as a leader. It inspires him to advocate for governance and portfolio management as true drivers of value. The Élixir Awards perfectly embody this ambition: they do not simply celebrate deliverables, but projects that truly change lives.
Looking ahead to 2026, his ambition is for PMI-Montréal to become an even stronger space for co-creation among practitioners—a living lab where the diversity of industries is leveraged to collectively solve real-world challenges. He firmly believes that it is through this collaborative dynamic that the discipline will continue to evolve and demonstrate its human and organizational impact.

« Every time I take part in PMI-Montréal activities, I experience far more than knowledge sharing. I find a human experience where ideas become bridges between people, where clarity builds trust, and where inspiration restores meaning to my role as a leader. For me, this is the true strength of this community: a reminder that behind every project, there is a purpose. »
Christian is an architect—member of the Ordre des architectes du Québec—and has been working for over twenty years in public infrastructure, at the intersection of architecture, complex project management, and strategic leadership. His career has progressively led him into leadership roles, and then toward a growing involvement with PMI-Montréal: first as a member, then as a volunteer, speaker, and ultimately as a trainer.

This journey has profoundly transformed both his practice and his vision of the profession.
The influence of PMI-Montréal on his career has been deep and structuring. Earning his PMP certification in 2012 was a true turning point: it provided him with structure, a common language, and clear reference points that transformed his practice. The PgMP and PfMP certifications, obtained in 2024, then enabled him to approach program and portfolio challenges with a more strategic mindset and renewed confidence.
The PMI mission—connect, empower, inspire—perfectly reflects his experience. Engaging with the community created a powerful leverage effect in his development, while teaching gave him the opportunity to give back what he had received.

This mission fully comes to life when aligned with PMI-Montréal’s vision: building a future where project management is at the heart of innovation and success. It is a vision that strongly resonates with his belief that project management is a true driver of value creation. In his role as a trainer, he embodies this from the very first hours of training, guiding participants to understand the business environment, strategic alignment, and value creation before even addressing tools. For him, this is where everything begins: in the ability to think bigger, broaden perspectives, and recognize that project success is not just a methodology, but a way to positively influence organizations and the people within them.
On a personal level, PMI-Montréal has offered him far more than a professional framework: a human, engaged, and inspiring community. His goal for the coming years is simple: to continue delivering transformative experiences to participants, help them build confidence, and contribute to the growth and visibility of the profession, in alignment with PMI-Montréal’s mission.

« Every interaction, every training session, every exchange has reminded me that project management is far more than a set of processes—it is a space for transformation, trust, and growth. I discovered a community that uplifts, broadens perspectives, and inspires you to go further. PMI-Montréal has given me a framework to learn, a network to grow, and a mission to contribute. Today, I remain committed with the deep conviction that together, we are building a future where project management becomes a true driver of innovation, leadership, and human impact. »
