Description

 Mr. Yvan Petit et Mr. Alejandro Romero-Torres were part of the core teams for the update of “Standard for Portfolio Management 3rd Edition” and of the “PMBOK® Guide 6th Edition” respectively. These will be used as examples of the process leading to the publication of a PMI Standard. A comparison with the ISO development process will also be presented. 

The evening will be concluded with a workshop where the participants will be able to discuss their use and points of view regarding the PMI Standards.

Speakers:

Yvan Petit, M.Eng., MBA (Insead), PhD, PMP, PfMP has been an associate professor at the University of Quebec at Montreal (ESG UQAM) since 2010. His research interests are on portfolio management, agile methods and uncertainty management. He has over 25 years of experience in project management, primarily in software development and R&D in the telecommunications industry. He was on the core team for the update of the Standard for Portfolio Management, is currently a member of the PMI Standards MAG (Member Advisory Group) and has been a member of the Canadian committee on the ISO TC-258 on Project Portfolio Management. He is the program director for the post-graduate programs in project management at ESG UQAM. He is also one of the trainer for PMP and PfMP exam preparation courses at PMI Montreal.

Alejandro Romero is at the University of Quebec at Montreal (ESG UQAM). He has participated in several initiatives for developing the project management profession in Quebec and abroad. He was an administrator of PMI Montreal from 2014 to 2015. During his tenure, he co-led the Member Services Committee and participated in the Notoriety Committee. Alejandro has also participated in the core committee to review PMBOK Version 6. It has over four years experience in teaching and project management research in academia (ESG UQAM, Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal and Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières). His areas of expertise are: management of technology projects, benefits management and end user involvement. He has over 12 years experience as a project manager in IT and organizational transformation initiatives. He has managed projects in several countries: Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia and Chile.
