Job brief:

We are looking for a bilingual Project Manager fluent in French and English to work with our Stations & Distributions Team. We anticipate that the successful candidate will reside in either Vancouver for at least the first year with the potential to relocate to Montreal later on.

The Project Manager will be responsible for planning and leading the successful delivery of hydrogen technology and infrastructure projects. With key responsibilities related to organizing and overseeing project delivery including planning, design, and construction. The Project Manager will ensure all projects are completed in line with stated objectives.

The successful candidate will be well-versed in all aspects of project management and will ideally be familiar with engineering design and construction methodologies and procedures. They are able to coordinate and oversee a team of professionals of different disciplines both internal and external to the organization to achieve the targeted results. The ideal candidate will have experience successfully managing multiple construction projects at the same time.

Responsibilities

  • Use disciplined project management methodologies to define scope, develop project plans, and govern cross-functional projects that deliver the project within cost and schedule requirements
  • Manage the deliverables, budgets, resource allocation plans, risk registers, and other support requirements for the program
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder engagement and satisfaction
  • Lead cross-functional teams comprised of HTEC staff, consultant teams, and other external project stakeholders
  • Negotiate and secure contracts with external vendors including consultants, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
  • Ensure projects are compliant with HTEC project delivery processes (stage gate) and reporting requirements
  • Prepare detailed progress reports for HTEC management team, funding providers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Manage funding agreements and project cashflow to ensure milestone and cash requirements are being met.
  • Clearly document and ensure adherence to strict health and safety standards
  • Contribute to the improvement of internal frameworks and processes in support of the program
  • Provide project management mentorship to HTEC team members

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a project manager in a technology, engineering, and/or construction environment with a history of successful project delivery
  • Familiarity with engineering design processes, construction procedures, contract negotiation, procurement, and project management principles
  • Demonstrated ability and specific experience operating within an environment with strict health and safety standards.
  • Experience managing projects through the full life cycle
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • A team player with leadership abilities
  • PMP or equivalent certification will be an advantage
  • Ability to travel on occasion
  • Understanding of municipal development and building permit processes will be an advantage. Experience managing projects according to PMP methodologies is preferred. Outstanding coaching, conflict resolution and team building skills are essential.
