Objective

This presentation explores the integration of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) and Lean Six Sigma principles as powerful risk management tools, drawing on lessons learned from the construction industry. The session will demonstrate how to proactively address complex challenges such as cost overruns and scope-related conflicts before they escalate. It will cover four key pillars:
1. Demystifying the IPD model and its impact on the allocation of contractual risk.
2. Early integration of scope management and risk identification tools to reduce change requests.
3. Applying Lean methods, including the Last Planner System (LPS) and Target Value Delivery (TVD), to support continuous improvement in project execution.
4. Developing a communication plan centered on collaborative leadership and active listening, both of which are essential to maintaining stakeholder alignment and engagement throughout the project life cycle.

Hani Asfour

Hani Asfour is a senior architect and project manager with more than 30 years of extensive experience in the planning, design, and construction industry. A member of both the Ordre des architectes du Québec (OAQ) and the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA), he holds several professional certifications, including PMP, PMI-CP, LEED AP, and Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt (LSSYB). His expertise focuses on contract administration, risk management, and the application of collaborative methodologies such as Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) and Lean Construction. Throughout his career, he has worked with leading organizations, including Macogep as a Senior Project Manager, and served as Project Director for the major Vendôme Metro transportation project at Provencher Roy. Recognized for his collaborative leadership and attentive listening, he is actively committed to knowledge sharing and strategic stakeholder management.
